Last week saw us landing in Southampton with my wife. This is one city in the South of England that has always amazed me with its massive history and vastness.
This involved a lots of walking around the old town and the center of Southampton. After a few hours of city watching and walking ,obviously it was the time for some great food .
Idea of good South Indian food with some mouthwatering Dosa in Southampton sat right in place for us and clicked immediately .We landed up in the famous South Indian Restaurant Mint Dosa situated right in the heart of the city.
The timings were not the best as this was in the day time around 3pm .This is the time when they usually restart serving after the day time break. The service staff was getting ready after the pause .We were asked to choose a table of our choice as we were the only one there at the time .
I ordered for some of their authentic Hot Chutney Masala Dosa (Crispy crepe made from Rice & lentil batter spread with chili and tomato chutney & filled potato masala, served with Chutneys and Sambar). My wife chose to try the Egg Masala Dosa (Crispy crepe made from Rice & lentil batter rolled with egg, stuffed with masala served with Chutneys and Sambar).
For Drinks, I chose their on tap Kingfisher beer for a change with my wife enjoying her all time favourite Mango Lassi.
The food was served hot as should be with any South Indian dish. The quality of the hot Sambhar and service made my appetite go wild and made me order more for their traditional Idly plate (Steamed rice cakes (3pcs), served with chutneys & sambar )
The young man serving us was a student in training for his Merchant Navy Diploma in Southampton University and worked as a part time. He was amazing with his conversations and made the whole experience of eating at the restaurant an awesome one. Perhaps ,he was going to serve back in India as a merchant navy officer which was my dream job when back in school :))))
The overall experience at the Restaurant was just great with its great food and service .The experience of some mouthwatering Dosa in Southampton ended for us enjoying some sweet Gulab Jamun for the dessert.
The happy memories of Southampton with its experience at the Mint Dosa remain alive in my memory as I write these lines :)))))
