Indian Food in Europe

Indian food in UK-Poole experience

Had an amazing experience of Indian food in UK yesterday at a small town of Poole.Poole is a coastal town in Dorset, southern England, known for its large natural harbour and sandy beaches. The town along with Bournemouth are resort  towns. They are so beautifully situated at the English Channel and famous for its 7 miles of golden sandy beaches and clean seas.It attracts over five million visitors every year to its safe sandy beaches

Poole has a   number of Indian restaurants to offer and my lust for the authentic Indian food brought me with my wife to   gurkhaspice.

It is a family run restaurant by Mr Krishna from Nepal along with his wife. Both of them are a pleasant  to meet and a such an hospitable  couple.Their hospitality has given to the place an atmosphere of warmth and coziness.

After a pleasant exchange of  ideas and  communication ,we were offered a comfortable place for us to feel at home.

The menu offered, contained an amazing range of Indian food on board. We chose to take some Seekh kebab and my wife ordered for a plate of Lamb momos .Momos is some thing that Nepalese cuisine is famous for.

While we waited for the exquisite yummy tongue twisters to come in,I ordered for a glass of Salted Lassi .My wife chose for  a glass of Indian Beer Cobra (Yet to be seen by me in Prague).

The momos came in tenderly cooked  with some spicy hot sauce just what was needed. The Seekh kebab were served so well along with some unique styled vegetable salad. The kebabs just melted in my mouth along with the Lassi i  enjoyed.

While enjoying the starters ,we ordered for the main course for Lamb Jal frezi (very hot),Some chicken tikka masala no spiced as a side   dish for my wife’s non Indian taste buds to take care of 🙂

She  chose some cheese and garlic naan which was so proudly served hot to us.I chose for some fresh hot fluffy Basmati rice.

Now ,UK  i know is famous for one of the best Indian Restaurants globally. This restaurant with its owners efforts has tried to maintain that trend in my view.

The restaurant from inside has been so well traditionally decorated .The tables so accurately placed and separated by  hand crafted glass partitions. The seating arrangement gave a feel of you being compact and cozy and at the same time private from the others.

As we enjoyed the mouthwatering food ,the restaurant was getting filled up by pre-order guests. The Restaurant phone constantly seemed taking in orders for takeaways i guess as the bar attendant gently speaking and facilitating the orders.

What amazed me so much was the serving of the food orders to the table on a trolley. This i am yet to see (or have not hit the place doing this)in Prague .

While we enjoyed our well spent of over 2 hours of stay in the restaurant ,the place was overwhelming already with guests.English people immensely enjoying every bit of the Indian food from heart. Most of the crowd seemed to me local residents of Poole or surroundings. There seemed to be few guests who were regular visitors.

The entire experience was so filling for both of us that we chose to by pass the dessert.Although menu seemed so attractive and different to me from Prague standards that i chose to take a snippet picture of it.

Its had some of the Indian kulfi on it to my deep surprise.

As we left the place ,we could hear the happy and content voices from the guests and the families enjoying their weekend.

As always ,The Indian food continues to make the people happy all around the world.

I bring back to Prague with me  some great memories of Indian food in UK from Poole:)))

Enjoy your meals and lots of love to you all !!!!
