Our culinary journey began with a variety of snacks that instantly awakened our taste buds. We started with crispy samosas (In Bengali they call it Singara), bursting with a flavourful filling of spiced potatoes and peas, perfectly paired with tangy tamarind chutney.
The bar at Dhaka was a pleasant surprise as well. Offering a range of drinks that complemented the spicy and savoury dishes, we enjoyed some refreshing Indian beers. The bartender’s skills were impressive, and the drinks elevated the entire dining experience.
The Main Course: A Fusion of Flavours
As for the main course, Dhaka didn’t disappoint. The restaurant offers a mix of both classic Indian dishes and Bangladeshi specialties, so we were spoiled for choice. We ordered the chicken tikka masala, which came in a rich, creamy sauce with just the right level of spice. The tender chicken pieces were cooked to perfection. Alongside it, we had the traditional lamb biryani cooked Bengali style and a blend of spices that transported us right back to the bustling streets of Kolkata.
My wife, who usually prefers milder flavours, couldn’t resist dipping her naan into the curry. We also had a side of garlic naan, which was soft, buttery, and the perfect accompaniment to soak up the delicious gravies.

It’s rare to find a place that combines both great food and an immersive cultural experience, but Dhaka manages to do just that.
Sweet Endings with Complimentary Dessert.
Just when we thought our afternoon couldn’t get any better, the owner surprised us with a complimentary dessert tray. We were served rasmalai, a soft, spongy Indian dessert soaked in a sweet, saffron-flavoured milk syrup (My wife’s favourite), Mouthwatering Gulab Jamun (My favourite) and traditional Bengali sweet Rasgulla. It was the perfect sweet ending to our feast, and we savoured every bite. It’s little touches like this that truly set Dhaka apart from other restaurants.

Our lunch at Dhaka was more than just a meal—it was an experience. The combination of excellent food, friendly service, and a beautifully crafted space made it a highlight of our trip to Guernsey. Whether you’re in the mood for a quick snack or a full Indian meal, Dhaka delivers on all fronts.
